Frequently Asked Questions
How are the dogs transported up North?
We bring our dogs in our rescue van, trailer, or bus.
Where do your dogs come from?
Most are rescued from high-kill shelters around Houston. Others are strays, street dogs, or owner surrenders.
Why do you transport dogs North?
Texas has more dogs than adopters. By transporting them North, we give them a second chance at life.
Are the dogs spayed/neutered and vaccinated?
Yes! All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and given age-appropriate vaccines before adoption.
Do the dogs have training?
Most don’t, though some may know a few basic commands. Training and socialization are highly recommended.
Where do the dogs stay before adoption?
Many live in foster homes; others stay in boarding until adopted.
Do I need a fenced yard?
No. We happily adopt to people in apartments, townhomes, and homes without fenced yards.
Are dogs good with kids or other pets?
Puppies usually do well with respectful children and can learn to live with cats. Adult dogs vary — we’ll share whatever history we have.
Do you know the breed, age, or size the dog will be?
Not always. We make our best educated guess, but often the exact background is unknown.
Will this dog shed?
Yes, all dogs shed. If you need a low-shedding breed, ask us — we sometimes get poodle or schnauzer mixes.
How can I adopt?
Fill out our adoption application and return it to us, or come meet us at one of our adoption events.
Do you adopt to Canadians?
Yes! You’ll just need to cross the border to pick up your dog, and provide rabies paperwork when returning home.
Can I see more pictures or do a video call with the dog?
Sorry, we don’t have the time or volunteers to offer that. Please check the Petfinder profile for the latest info.
When is the adoption fee due?
For pre-adopted dogs, the fee is due within 24 hours of approval.
What forms of payment do you take?
Cash, credit card, or PayPal.
Can I take my dog home the same day?
Yes! If you’re approved at an adoption event, you can take your dog home that day.
What should I do after adoption?
Schedule a vet visit soon for a wellness check, keep your dog on monthly heartworm prevention, and give them lots of love.
Do you want updates?
Absolutely! We love getting pictures and stories from adopters.
